Help Shape our Community: AARP Grant Puts Old East Enders in Control

We are thrilled to announce the Old East End Neighborhood Coalition has been selected to receive a 2023 AARP Community Challenge grant! One of only 310 national grants, the goals of our People-Powered Neighborhood project clearly stood out among the 3600+ applications, and we could not be prouder. Learn more about our project!

The AARP Community Challenge encourages neighborhoods to make quick, tangible improvements that jump-start long-term change. As part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, this program supports the efforts of cities, towns, neighborhoods, and rural areas to become great places to live for people of all ages. We need to hear from you!

This grant provides the funds to make the Old East End’s vision a reality, but we absolutely need your help too. We are currently gathering information for our People-Powered Neighborhood project, and we want your voice to be heard. Your opinion, insight, and ideas are invaluable as we shape the future of our community together. Here are 4 ways you can participate:

Community Walk

Join us on a community walk to assess conditions, identify areas for improvement, and connect with your neighbors.

Walks begin in the Triangle Park at Barrett and Chase Streets on these dates:

  • Tuesday, July 11, 5 – 7 pm

Bayberry Commons Pop-Up

There is also a new pop-up opportunity for Bayberry Commons residents. Chat with us in person on the Upper Green during your Ice Cream Social on July 16th, 1 – 3pm.
